Hunter has partnered with Flaharty Asset Management to be the Chief Investment Officer involved in tracking and researching various financial markets and distinguishing between information and noise. Monitoring the balance between risk and reward in our clients’ portfolios is his primary concern.
Hunter Orr earned a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Finance from the University of Tampa. In 2012, he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
In 2010, he was published in the Journal of Managerial Finance for his work entitled “Sorting vs. Ranking Systems for Student Managed Investment Funds.” Areas of research currently under journal review are “The Volatility and Wealth Erosion of Leveraged ETFs” as well as “A Comprehensive and Intuitive Look at the Cross-Section of Expected Returns Considering Investor Behavior.”
Hunter’s investment research has been purchased and utilized in investment practice by Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, various hedge funds and numerous institutions worldwide. Discovering what truly makes the markets work in an unbiased objectionable fashion is what drives Mr. Orr.
Hunter lives with his wife Jillian and his daughter Palmer in Belleair, FL where he is actively involved with the Belleair, Florida community where he grew up. He is involved with UPARC and the great work they are doing there, as well as the Skip Cline Society at Morton Plant Hospital.
